The Old Council Tree was a famous Wisconsin historical marker in Neenah Wisconsin. The tree was used by the Indians of the Fox River Valley where the Indians and Whites held council meetings.
On July 31, 1885, the tree was cut down to make improvements to the lower Fox River.
I was approached during the construction of the new Thedacare Physicians Clinic to recreate the tree in a way of showing life and energy.
I wanted the tree to be full, colorful and poweful with the sun shining through and have a non traditional yet representative feel to it. Depth was part of my concept to emerge the observer.
The finished work is 40" x 60" on metal.
